Grid accounts and certificates

RCUB offers the option of issuing Grid accounts and certificates to its users, which can be used for the following:

  • Accessing and using the grid infrastructure
  • Digital signatures for electronic mail (email)
  • Authentication through web services
  • Data encryption

In order to receive a account on the UI computer of the AEGIS02-RCUB website (which is necessary in order to use the computer resources available in Grid), it is necessary to sand a request with explanation to This email address is being protected from spambots. The procedure for issuing user certificates consists of the following steps:

  • The user forms a PKCS#10 request on one of the AEGIS UI (User Interface) computers
  • The user is connected with the certificate by several email interactions, coming to AEGIS CA or RA with a valid document for personal identification and a proof of affiliation with the institution stated in the request
  • The user should send an email within 5 days period, signed with the received certificate by thay accept their new certificate and CP/CPS document
  • After the certificate is imported to the web browser, the user is authorized for access to Grid resources by using the appropriate VOMS server, such as AEGIS SEE-GRID VOMS

More on generating requests for certificates, terms of use, importing the certificate into a web browser and clients’ email, as well as accessing virtual organizations of the VOMS service, you can find out more here.

While using the Grid and Grid certificates, the users are obliged to honor the terms of use. The basic documentation on the Grid use is available here, and it is recommended to start from the “gLite User Guide” document.

RCUB offers support in getting to know the Grid service to potential Grid users, and to those with whom RCUB has joint projects, it offer support in choosing the means and methods for adaptation or implementation of Grid applications.
