RCUB offers the option of issuing Grid accounts and certificates to its users, which can be used for the following:
In order to receive a account on the UI computer of the AEGIS02-RCUB website (which is necessary in order to use the computer resources available in Grid), it is necessary to sand a request with explanation to This email address is being protected from spambots. The procedure for issuing user certificates consists of the following steps:
More on generating requests for certificates, terms of use, importing the certificate into a web browser and clients’ email, as well as accessing virtual organizations of the VOMS service, you can find out more here.
While using the Grid and Grid certificates, the users are obliged to honor the terms of use. The basic documentation on the Grid use is available here, and it is recommended to start from the “gLite User Guide” document.
RCUB offers support in getting to know the Grid service to potential Grid users, and to those with whom RCUB has joint projects, it offer support in choosing the means and methods for adaptation or implementation of Grid applications.

Grid computing enables researches to use the distributed computer resources which are integrated in the Grid infrastructure in Serbia, the region, Europe, and world wide. By using the Grid, users can organize cooperation and exchange data with other researchers, regardless of where they are and which institution they work for. As such, Grid represents a basics for eScience.
The identity established by digital certificates for the purpose of using the Grid becomes an important element of the researcher’s identity in many scientific areas. Individual representatives of the academic community and institutions member of the Academic and education grid initiative of Serbia (AEGIS) can receive user accounts in RCUB, as well as AEGIS CA digital certificates for Grid access, enabling them to carry out their programs and upload and download data on the Grid infrastructure, within the relevant virtual organization. This means that the individual can use the computer resources on any Grid website within the European Grid infrastructure which supports the virtual organization to which the individual belongs to.
RCUB is the administrator for the AEGIS Certification Authority (CA), which is a member of the EUGridPMA from 2007, in the sense that it enables Serbia’s Grid infrastructure users to receive a certificate by which they can be identified on the Grid, access virtual organizations and use the Grid resources available to virtual organizations they belong to. Receiving the Grid certificate, besides by direct contact with AEGIS CA, is also possible with the Registration Authority (RA) on the Universities of Kragujevac and Nis, as well as the Institute for physics in Zemun and Institute Vinca. More details on AEGIS CA, receiving and using Grid certificates are available here. In addition to user certificates, AEGIS CA also issues host certificates for computer included in the Grid infrastructure. These certificates are generated upon a request from administrators of Grid websites included in the national Grid infrastructure AEGIS and wish to access it.
AEGIS02-RCUB Grid website is located in RCUB, and it is a part of the national Grid infrastructure “Academic and education Grid initiative – AEGIS”. AEGIS02-RCUB website uses the EGEE gLite middleware and offers services which are serving a large number of grid virtual organizations.
